rank | Thu Aug 20 00:47:33 You realize that China actually has a.higher debt to GDP ratio, right? I mean, it's actually close enough to be negligible. But US @123% China @ 124% But, if you include state organizations, it's probably closer to 200+ in China. |

If by "state organizations" they mean all debt owed by Chinese state-owned enterprises, corporations, LGFVs, etc., then you can get extremely large numbers—but that isn't government debt. The comparison is misleading because it mixes different definitions of Chinese debt." Thats all I need to know |

rank | Sat Aug 22 17:57:29 We absolutely cannot grow our way out of it. The increase to debt far, far outpaces any realistic GDP geowth projections. I explained these very numbers to murder a few years back to show how we had a massive spending problem and he couldn't have cared less. I consider that an object example of why no one in DC is interested in solving this problem :/ |

rank | Sat Aug 22 21:35:37 Ruggy I feel like you are stealing my glory :). The problem in a nutshell is that decreasing deficit spending decreases gdp growth. Goverment spending is responsible for about 25% of gdp. You would slip immediately into a recession if you reduced the deficit by 1 trillion in a given fiscal year. |
