You realize that China actually has a.higher debt to GDP ratio, right?

I mean, it's actually close enough to be negligible.

But US @123%
China @ 124%

But, if you include state organizations, it's probably closer to 200+ in China.

"how true is this and wth is he referring to by state organizations?

If by "state organizations" they mean all debt owed by Chinese state-owned enterprises, corporations, LGFVs, etc., then you can get extremely large numbers—but that isn't government debt.

The comparison is misleading because it mixes different definitions of Chinese debt."

Thats all I need to know

"Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Thursday said the U.S. can “grow” its way out of the $40 trillion national debt ..."

We'll just grow out of it ... like with chronic masturbation.

We absolutely cannot grow our way out of it. The increase to debt far, far outpaces any realistic GDP geowth projections.

I explained these very numbers to murder a few years back to show how we had a massive spending problem and he couldn't have cared less. I consider that an object example of why no one in DC is interested in solving this problem :/

I feel like you are stealing my glory :).

The problem in a nutshell is that decreasing deficit spending decreases gdp growth. Goverment spending is responsible for about 25% of gdp. You would slip immediately into a recession if you reduced the deficit by 1 trillion in a given fiscal year.

Wtb, What exactly is misleading? And yes it includes state run businesses.

It excludes private debt.

China has a tendency yo hide its debt in government entities that carry out government directed spending.

So, when doing comparisons, it valid to include (estimates) of said debt.

The IMF estimates that LGFVs alone are about 50% of GDP.

You are correct. Assets and liabilities owned by Government probably should be counted.

"Total assets of China's state-owned enterprises (SOEs), including the financial sector, reached US$78.08 trillion"

So closer to 125 trillion today I imagine.

(78 trillion in 2019).

That is oddly something people fail to think of for some reason. The Chinese State is an economic powerhouse in its own right. Worth like 60 SpacXs in market cap.
