I'm realizing that there are no Irish scientists. I don't think I've actually met an Irishman in any conference, any job, any university, any research flight, ever.

Just google if you don't know of any.

Projecting dummydumbdumb ignorance to generalize a universal rule is invalid.

Dummydumbdumb, the difference between ignorance and dumb:

I though "huh, is there not a chemistry something? I dunno. Then I checked".

I was ignorant of Irish scientists. I was curious. I checked. Now I know more. I am not a dummydumbdumb.

A dummydumbdumb "thinks": "I don't know of any Irish scientists. There must not be any. Boy the Irish are stupid as a group". You are a dummy.

Why do I have the feeling that if I asked Americans who the greatest living US scientist is, a non-trivial percentage would answer "Elon Musk"?

"I was ignorant of Irish scientists."

Indeed.

NaMBLA, quick question - who discovered pulsars?

Jergul really has said all else that needs to be said.

Well that proves that.

Seb with his affinity for retards is defending them... Can only mean Ireland is indeed retarded.

Thanks seb.

NaMBLA doesn't know the Scientist who discovered Pulsars is Irish.

You had to Google that.

Lol.

Yes. That is right. But those is the thing: I know when I don't know something, and go find out. Luke every other person of baseline intelligence.

You literally can't tell when you don't know something.

Instead you just assume your absence of knowledge of a things existence is positive knowledge that it doesn't exist.

You are a high functioning imbecile.

My whole point, baboon, is that it is quite easy to find high performing examples in some other populations.

But the Irish... A bit obscure for some reason no?

The Irish are pretty famously the Epsilons of white people. Some of them have risen to fame and fortune here in America, since this is the land of opportunity after all, but fundamentally they are meant to be farming potatoes and serving their betters.

NaMBLA:

This wasn't hard to find though, it is in fact trivial. That's my point.

I don't keep a list of "famous scientists by nationality" in the back of my mind. Most people don't.

Also there aren't many Irish people, and most of the people claiming Irish ancestry are just Americans cosplaying because they have a distant ancestor from the 18th or 19th century who was Irish.

(there are in fact loads of Irish scientists, but none you'd have necessarily heard of. I picked pulsars because it was a big spacey trying. Fundamentally we are dealing with an issue of ignorance, not of Ireland lacking smart people).

"don't keep a list of "famous scientists by nationality" in the back of my mind. ”

There are a great many things you don't keep in the back of your head. Lol.

But even you could come up with a huge list of British scientists if I asked. German. American. French. Italian.

But you can't think of an Irishman.

NaMBLA:

"There are a great many things"

Indeed, that's true of everybody because there's more in the world than we can possibly know. But I'm smart enough to know when I don't know something and check; rather than confuse not knowing with knowing the thing doesn't exist.

"British scientists if I asked."

Yes.

" German. American. French. Italian."

Currently active? Americans yes, because American media and news is more accessible. The rest probably not.

But there are fewer Irish people than there are Londoners (American "Irish" don't count) whereas there are 70m Brits, 340m Americans, 70m French and 85m Germans; and before 1920 you would call an Irish scientist a British one.

"But I'm smart enough to know when I don't know something"

you mean like how the Himalayan glaciers would all be gone by now. Or maybe how that Iranian jet had "engine trouble". Or a million others.

Lol

Anyway, population is your first non retarded argument in a while. To that I would counter with Israel/Jews. About the same size as irish. Clearly there's a difference in ability per capita between Irish and Jews.

First example is a lie.

You are referring to 2007s AR4 report. I and everyone else agreed the claim was erroneous, but it that important point is that it wasn't in the c working group I; where the actual predictions on what would likely happen under various forcing scenarios; it was in Working group II on social impacts and vulnerability. It was never a clear finding.

So this is a great example of you not being clear on in your own mind what you know, and what you don't know.

The second example is a *doubly* good example. Both Jergul and I took the position that the footage could be explained by either. You claimed it was one of the big air defence missiles like a S-300 and it was clearly disintegrated in flight. Turned out to be a short range Tor-1 and what we identified as engine debris likely was engine debris. Your definitive claim was wrong. Jergul and I took a "need more information" perspective with no strong view either way. Again, this is you not knowing when you have enough information to make a clean conclusion.
