A Florida mother said she’s receiving death threats after a video where she’s apparently seen dunking her 3-year-old son’s head in a toilet went viral.

While Kaitlyn Wolf told WESH that the disturbing stunt was a “joke,” both the Leesburg Police Department and the state of Florida are investigating the matter. While the child can be heard screaming in the video, Wolf claims he was laughing.

Yeah... the "no" coupled with the ending where someone says, "God, that's mean," probably gives enough context for abuse of some kind. On the other hand, maybe he was being a dick? ;D

"Queen Elizabeth Watches As Oxen Pull Apart Farmer Who Failed To Provide Yearly Tithe Of Grain"
[Onion: News in Brief]
http://www...-apart-farmer-who-f-1831914399
"LONDON—Demonstrating in no uncertain terms that any peasant who sought to shirk his or her duty would be summarily dealt with, Queen Elizabeth looked on dispassionately Friday as a team of four oxen, yoked in pairs, were strapped to the outstretched limbs of a farmer who had failed to provide the Crown with his yearly tithe of grain, and gazed, unblinking, as the great beasts were lashed with bullwhips until the laggard had been drawn, screaming, limb from limb. Despite the years-long drought that has scourged the countryside and left its once-fruitful fields bereft of greenery, Her Majesty has decreed that she will not look mercifully upon any subject who cannot render annual tribute amounting to one-10th of his harvest, though their starveling children cry themselves to sleep and the ribs of their horses cast sawtoothed shadows on the withered heath. Queen Elizabeth, characteristically stony of countenance in the face of the regrettable but necessary punitive ceremony, was observed to betray the merest hint of expression only once, the ghost of a smile flitting across her divinely blessed face as the delinquent farmer’s joints ground free of their gristly moorings, separating from their groaning sockets with a sharp report not unlike that of a brass nine-pounder cannonade and nearly drowning out the peasant’s high, keening screams. In the final moments of the excruciation, Her Majesty was seen to evince a slight gesture to the Royal Oxherd, entreating that officiant to whip the oxen more stoutly, that the farmer be delivered without any more suffering than necessary to make the Crown’s displeasure known, and that the Royal Fusiliers might waste no time in relieving the miserable ploughman of his head, which was duly placed upon a spike above the gate to Buckingham Palace as fair warning to all who would dodge the tax. Before Her Majesty reportedly retired, satisfied, to the Palace, the Royal Chamberlain let it be known that the Queen, in her infinite wisdom and compassion, declared that families who have been visited by undue hardship may, in lieu of drawing and quartering, offer up their first-born son to be pressed into service with the Royal Navy."

"Teen Weirded Out After Running Over English Teacher Outside Of School"
[Onion: News in Brief]

"NEW ALBANY, OH—Commenting upon the odd feeling produced by the chance encounter, local teenager Evelyn Hildebrand confided to reporters Thursday that she was “totally weirded out” after running over her English teacher, Ted Miller, outside of school. “It took me by surprise because he just kind of appeared out of nowhere, and I’m not used to seeing Mr. Miller like that,” said the high school junior, adding that she was startled when Miller suddenly stepped into the crosswalk, and that she wasn’t certain whether the 32-year-old educator recognized his student in the split second before the car smashed into him and drove over his body. “At first, I wasn’t even sure it was him. He’s always very reserved and formal when he’s teaching, so it was strange to come across him in a completely different situation like that, one where he was covered in blood and writhing. It was pretty awkward. I just tried to get out of there as quick as I could.” At press time, Hildebrand confirmed she was crossing her fingers in the hope Miller wouldn’t bring up the incident when he had recovered to the point where he was able to return to class."

Police Officer Allegedly Killed His Colleague In Game Of Russian Roulette

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A male St. Louis police officer was charged Friday with involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of a female officer during what was described as a deadly game with a revolver.

Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner announced the charge against Nathaniel Hendren, 29, in the death of 24-year-old Katlyn Alix, as they allegedly played a game in which a revolver’s cylinder was emptied, one bullet put back and the two colleagues took turns pointing at each other and pulling the trigger.

“The defendant emptied the cylinder of the revolver and then put one cartridge back into the cylinder,” the statement said. He allegedly spun the cylinder, pointed the gun away and pulled the trigger.

The gun did not fire. The statement said Alix took the gun, pointed it at Hendren and pulled the trigger. Again, it didn’t fire.

Hendren “took the gun back and pointed it at the victim (and) pulled the trigger causing the gun to discharge,” the statement said. “The victim was struck in the chest.”

Teen Accused Of Faking Kidnapping So He Could Get $130 From Mom

Emmanuel Franklin’s mother got suspicious after she noticed the address for the money drop was the same as his father’s.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by Newsweek he “caused his mother to believe he would be killed by kidnappers” if she did not come up with the money.

A Florida man allegedly shot and killed his mother, father and brother after wiring a Bulgarian cam girl $200,000 that he stole from them.

The report notes that after the parents, Chad and Margaret Amato, found out Grant Amato wired exorbitant sums of money to a woman on a Bulgarian adult website called Cam Girls, they made him check into a 60-day internet and sex addiction program. The arrest report indicates that he had been in contact with the woman since June 2018 and had given her $200,000 that he stole from his family. He checked into a rehabilitation facility in Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 22 and checked out on Jan. 4.

His parents found out he was still in contact with the Bulgarian woman and kicked him out of the home on Jan. 24. The next day, his family members were found dead with “execution style” wounds, according to Seminole County Sheriff’s Office crime scene analysts.

The translator thing is kind of an "Ugly American" update. It used to be that ugly Americans would travel with a book that had pictures in it, and they'd find the picture of the thing that they wanted and just point at it... another thing is/was phrase books where instead of attempting a pronunciation they'd just find the English phrase and have a person read the translated phrase.. smart phone apps have similar updates... probably would only work in a place like Japan where people wouldn't feel as insulted by an interaction like that ;p

http://www.facebook.com/Adrian90313/videos/1531814190296933/

Adrian Burrell is with Tim Abbott and 19 others.
23 hrs ·

I am a Black man born and raised in Oakland, California who was physically attacked by Vallejo PD officer David McLaughlin, last Tuesday. In researching my situation, I learned that Mclaughlin has been involved in lawsuits related to his brutality including the fatal shooting of on August 3rd, 2018.
Mclaughlin grabbed me, smashed my face against the wall and then swung my body, knocking my head into a wooden pillar causing a concussion. He put handcuffs on my wrists so tight they broke the skin and caused my fingers to go numb. All while telling me “stop resisting” to my reply, “I’m not resisting.”

I’m a Marine, and was honorably discharged when I completed my service. I have no convictions on my record; I'm not on parole or probation. I own my home, I was on the porch of this home when McLaughlin pulled his pistol on my cousin, saying my cousin looked like someone who he saw speeding earlier. My cousin was sitting on his motorcycle in front of my house. A gun had been pulled on him because he “looked like someone” the officer had seen speeding earlier. Obviously, the situation concerned me. From roughly 20 ft away, with a railing between myself and the officer, I started filming with my phone. You have the right to film a police officer in action as long as you’re not a threat or preventing him from doing his job. The officer told me to go in my house. I chose to stay on my porch and film because the situation was concerning. My camera panned and tilted, but I did not take one step off of the porch. At that point, officer Mclaughlin approached me as you see in the video.

He said I was going to jail and detained me in the back seat of his car. Would I have gone to jail if I weren’t a vet with no criminal record? When the officer realized I am a Marine, he told me if I wasn’t a vet I’d be going to jail. Does that mean that if I had not been a vet, he would have put me in jail for not breaking the law? Because I am a vet, does that mean my life is more valuable? Military service does not warrant special treatment. Lack of military service does not justify mistreatment?

Why holster your gun to come put your hands on me, if my cousin and I are a threat?

This unfortunate circumstance put me in a situation where if I was to defend myself, then I would have been a hashtag. Or worse, my death would have been ignored or excused on the premise of Mcglaughlin’s irrational fear.

Officer McLaughlin should not be allowed to continue abusing his power.
This is a true story and I feel it's my responsibility to share it.
Police need better training on implicit bias. They need tougher disciplinary actions taken when patterns of misconduct become frequent and are being reported from multiple sources.

lulz... Even in the 80s, you've got to know that *if* you want to wear insensitive costumes, don't let there be a record of it! ;D

..
"i'll guess cop probably chased biker guy to house... no one ever tells the truth"

Yeah.. his cousin was totally geared up and on the bike, so it's not like he was just casually hanging out on his bike in regular clothes (the circumstances don't really sell the mistaken identity). Hopefully the officer has dash cam that will emerge to verify whether or not he followed the correct biker.

And the video doesn't really make Burrell's own case very well. It's one thing to be like, "The officer told me to go in my house. I chose to stay on my porch and film because the situation was concerning," and the reality of the video where the officer says, "Get back. Get back," and he replies, "No. Nope" — i.e., it's not as if Burrell *said* "I have the right to film this as a concerned bystander". And he's right that it's fine to film, but he still has to follow those simple instructions (and I don't think it's unreasonable for an officer to ask for more space. Obi-Wan had the higher ground here, which should rightly make Anakin feel unsafe).

Even so, difficult to say if the officer was just annoyed by the filming or annoyed that someone wasn't following commands. Detaining Burrell temporarily would guarantee the safety that the officer didn't have in the case of Burrell not backing up, but the officer could also have done better communicating (Maybe, "I need you to back up *because*...", or, "It's fine for you to film, but I still need you to back up for my safety"). Also a mistake for the officer to give up control of the biker by walking away to cuff the bystander. A biker who (allegedly) fled an officer would be a higher threat there, and the officer put himself in a spot (bottom of the porch stairs) where both Burrell and the biker could have shot without hitting each other (officer made himself a target if it had been a shoot scenario).

As for "Military service does not warrant special treatment"... not exactly :D ... that little icon on a veteran's I.D. is kind of for recognition moments not unlike this one. It's sort of an unstated thing where if you're caught speeding an officer might see that and give a warning instead; Burrell will ruin this unspoken system if he wants to be a dumbass about this ;p ... I do get his point, though: *if* he had done nothing wrong (but he did; he didn't follow police commands and then resisted arrest by trying to hold his phone up and film instead of giving the officer his phone hand for cuffing), then it shouldn't matter who he is. If.

Uh, gonna have to call bullshit here. Police do not have unilateral authority and the right to film a police officer while on the job has been tested in court. Burrell did nothing wrong. If he had been arrested for insubordination, it would have been thrown out.

"Hopefully the officer has dash cam that will emerge to verify whether or not he followed the correct biker."

Kind of irrelevant. The officer pulled a gun for apparently no reason. That the guy might have been speeding earlier doesn't justify anything that happened.

[hood]: "the right to film a police officer while on the job has been tested in court."

I agree and said as much: "And he's right that it's fine to film"

..
[hood]: "Police do not have unilateral authority"

In general, I agree, but if this statement was specifically about the present topic of not following an officer's lawful commands, then this is false.

Officers may issue discretionary commands for their own safety, and these discretionary commands are easy to protect in court (i.e., it is easy for a D.A. to protect the officer's decision to say, "Back up," because the D.A. can say that it was a lawful order designed to protect the officer's safety. If a person did not obey that lawful order, then that person can be charged — in this case, with a misdemeanor). This extends to all sorts of situations, like people getting too close to a traffic stop, people getting too close to an arrest in progress, or people attempting to enter a crime scene. In all cases officers have been granted the authority to control the scene via reasonable commands which must be obeyed under legal penalty. There exist gray areas where a person can challenge whether or not an order is lawful (e.g., the trope of a libertarian at a traffic stop: "Am I being detained?"), but Burrell did not perform any such check, he simply refused to follow the lawful order.

..
[CC]: "Hopefully the officer has dash cam that will emerge to verify whether or not he followed the correct biker."
[hood]: "Kind of irrelevant. The officer pulled a gun for apparently no reason. That the guy might have been speeding earlier doesn't justify anything that happened."

Not irrelevant. If the biker was knowingly, actively evading the officer, then he was breaking the law — fleeing in a vehicle is charged as a felony in many states (usually depends on how dangerous the pursuit was). Officers can reasonably draw their weapon on a felony pursuit, usually because if a person is willing to commit a felony to evade an officer, then that person may be considered dangerous until further evaluated. The officer's decision to holster his weapon can reasonably be assigned to the officer having conducted further evaluation and found that it was not necessary in this case.

Meanwhile, Burrell claimed that his "cousin was sitting on his motorcycle in front of [his] house," suggesting that they were simply sitting there together for a time when an officer came out of nowhere and began harassing them. If, on the other hand, the officer has dash cam footage of a felony pursuit of Burrell's cousin, then Burrell will have been found lying: i.e., very relevant to Burrell's complicity in a crime. But, even if Burrell's "mistaken identity" defense is verified by dash cam or witnesses (e.g., the officer lost the correct biker and then saw a similar biker parked in the area), then the officer still had reasonable suspicion, the right to make a traffic stop, the right to control the scene, the right to detain someone who was not following his lawful orders, and the right to use force in the case of someone who was resisting arrest.

Not sure if this was inspired by the cat on the field from the other video or if it just reappeared because the cat on the field story was going around..

as to Conan's no desk, seems his show is now only 30 mins, so new format all around

also he revealed DNA tests show he is 100% Irish, w/ conclusion being he is inbred... (seemed a legit story :p)

and he demonstrated his weirdly long legs relative to his torso... (whereas, i have a long torso... we should trade legs)

In that above Hader/Conan YouTube clip below the "i miss Conan's desk" comment I posted a really long explanation about why Marxist feminists would like Conan's new desk-less setup and new format — too much caffeine late in the day did that to me, I think ;D

"New ‘Avengers’ Fan Theory Suggests Key To Beating Thanos Could Be Nothing Because He Not Real And None Of This Exists"
[Onion: News in Brief]
http://ent...ey-to-beating-thano-1832362299
"LOS ANGELES—Shedding light on a possible key plot point of the upcoming film Avengers: Endgame, an emerging theory among fans of the Marvel franchise suggests the key to beating Thanos could be nothing, nothing at all, because he isn’t real and none of this exists, sources reported Tuesday. “They left plenty of Easter eggs hinting at it in the first three Avengers movies, so it’s pretty obvious—the way to counter Thanos’ power now that he has all the infinity stones must be to simply realize he’s CGI and that it’s just a movie,” Avengers fan Raoul Bengston wrote in an online forum, detailing the potential implications of the villain being completely imaginary, including the possibility that the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe could itself be a wholly fabricated world devised decades ago by comic book writers. “Imagine what it would mean if, instead of T’Challa and Peter Parker disintegrating at the end of Infinity War, they turned out to be fictional characters portrayed by professional actors Chadwick Boseman and Tom Holland, who ultimately survive because the infinity stones aren’t real? Could be quite a game-changer.” At press time, the majority of fans on the forum had begun to tear into the new theory, deeming it “far-fetched” and “unrealistic.”"

"Pedestrian Crossing Street Makes Sure To Look At Approaching Car So Driver Will Feel More Guilty If They Run Him Over"
[Onion: News in Brief]
http://loc...e-to-look-at-approa-1832430875
"CHICAGO—Stepping off the curb and into the crosswalk, local man Adam Hartsell reportedly made sure to look up at the driver of an approaching vehicle Thursday to ensure they would feel extra guilty in the event they failed to stop and ran him over. “The goal of this split-second eye contact is to impress my image upon their mind, so that if they do hit me, they will be forced to spend the rest of their days picturing the terrified face of the person they ran over in his last moments of life,” said the 26-year-old pedestrian, who emphasized the importance of not only locking eyes with each and every oncoming driver, but also delivering a hard stare that conveys a stern moral appraisal of any who would not brake their vehicle in time. “In this way, I will be able to haunt their dreams long after they’ve struck and killed me. If I have enough time, I also make sure to look any passengers dead in the eyes, so that they, too, will be hounded for years by debilitating remorse. It’s important to take these small precautions.” At press time, reports confirmed the oncoming driver had looked up from their phone screen and briefly wondered what the muffled noise coming from beneath their car had been."
