Member | Sun Oct 08 09:03:32 Jergul You seem to be under the impression that a DoW is going to limit Israel's capacity for ruthlessness. The last time the United States declared war on someone, we firebombed Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki out of existence. Four cities incidentally make up half of the entire population of the Gaza Strip. I'm sure we have some HE munitions that we can donate to Israel. |

large member | Sun Oct 08 09:26:14 LC The governments do what suits to arrange the war in a manner that fits with domestic law. Ruggy I think ruthlessness is self regulated by national interests. Israel "declared war" under the equivalent of the US 10th Ammendment (all power not held by others is held by government is the unitary state version). Legit enough, but a state of war does mean anything the government wants it to mean. Leveling concrete cities require munitions measured in the 10s of millions of tons. I have no idea what the US dumb bomb stockpile is. It still costs about 100k a ton to drop given the IDF airforce composition. |

jergul
large member | Sun Oct 08 10:01:28 Ruggy A. I think I do. Its application is different for unitary states, but it addresses who has unassigned powers. There is no law on declaring war in Israel. The government still has that power as it is derived from 40th article of base law. B. Yes. Many concrete buildings will have to fall for the dead to be in a 4 digit range. |
Rugian
Member | Sun Oct 08 10:28:24 Jergul Oh for fuck's sake. The entire purpose of the 10th Amendment is to place limits on the undefined powers of the government. A 10th Amendment equivalent for a unitary state would be "The powers not delegated to the State of Israel by the Basic Laws, nor prohibited by it to the people are reserved to the people." Your take on it ("all power not held by others is held by government") manages to convey the exact opposite sentiment of the amendment. You got it completely wrong. And the 10th Amendment doesn't even apply here. If you had bothered to read Article 40, you'd know that the government has the right and responsibility to seek a declaration of war before engaging in warfare. It's a defined power for the state. |

Member | Sun Oct 08 10:55:43 Israel should rightly smash the shit out of Hamas. Surprised how reserved they have been in their retaliation targeting mainly hamas strongholds. I'd have expected Palestinian civilian deaths to be way more at this point. I do think Israel cares a little bit about minimizing collateral damage. I also think they may have problems securing munitions past a month because so much has gone to Ukraine already and Western stockpiles are way down. |

Member | Sun Oct 08 11:01:45 Liberal media going to bat for hamas. Nyt, msnbc, treat israel and hamas as exact equals: No mention of terrorism. No mention of hamas striking first. No mention of israeli civilians being targetted. No mention of the barbarity. At least not in the headlines. "Israel and gaza at war, 900 total dead" is the headlines from these 2 shitrags. Amazing. |
Sam Adams
Member | Sun Oct 08 11:05:25 "Surprised how reserved they have been in their retaliation targeting mainly hamas strongholds." Agreed. I think they may be waiting for the reserve call ups to be mated with their gear. Then theyll go in with tank divisions on the ground and the slaughter really will start. Theyll mainly be expending small arms rounds and tank shells. Plenty of them around. No worries there. |

First they bombed Israeli observation towers and weapons systems on the border, then fired hundreds of rockets as terrorists on paragliders flew over the border. Moments later, Hamas approached the border fence, blew up holes in it, and allowed hundreds of terrorists to infiltrate into Israel. |

Member | Sun Oct 08 11:29:36 I called it with hamas taking those civilians with zero intention of using them as bargaining chips for jailed Palestinians. That was a leftist pipedream. Those civilians were as good as dead the moment they were taken. It's unfortunate but this is war with savages, literal savages. You cannot expect them to behave rationally or strategically. They want to cause maximum pain and damage to Israel as quick as possible. The average age of a Palestinian is 18 years old. They are not thinking long term goals when they are gloating over the bodies of dead children and posting the videos on Twitter or tiktok. |

Israel could literally stomp them like an ant when full resources are brought to bear. The assymetry of their lives mostly being worthless compared to a western life is something all terrorists understand and their ultimate bargaining chip. |

Lol. Just be quiet cuckhat, wait till your handlers in the media give you a talking point, you aren't good at independent thought. Hamas is going full blitzkrieg and is seemingly hoping a nonstop onslaught will ignite the Arab world to join them. Whatever shot those kidnapped civilians had is pretty much gone. Biden's doing what any president other than Trump would do. Moving Carrier groups and assets in the area to make sure that the violence doesn't spread. Member | Sun Oct 08 14:29:08 We won't know the accurate number of those killed by idf forces for years. People in 2006 claimed 1 million Iraqis died during the 2003 invasion and subsequent occupation of iraq. Now in 2023 that number is revised to between 275k and 330k between the years of 2003 and March 2023. They are already claiming thousands of Palestinians are injured after 1 day of strategic bombing including ROE required roof knocking to minimize civilian casualties (something russia doesnt bother to do in ukraine). Palestinians and left leaning media will hyperinflate Palestinian deaths and casualties, it's a tactic they use to perpetuate the narrative that Israel is brutal and oppressive. |

That's a huge pool of desperate people to recruit from. And with Saudi Arabia about to normalize relations with Israel and far-right governments constantly eking out victories, they saw their position only getting worse and worse. What's shocking is how fucking stupid was Netanyahu to leave Israelis so undefended. A lot of troops were being used to defend their pointless West-Bank settlements and were not available in Gaza. That's what happens when you kowtow to religous nutters. You make fucking stupid decisions. |

This is why Hamas did what they did, albeit also with a religious nut complex and the wish to die as martyrs while killing the evil Jews, but that is the general notion |

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs holds Israel solely responsible for the ongoing escalation due to its ongoing violations of the rights of the Palestinian people, the latest of which was the repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the Israeli police.” The Qatari statement also called on the international community to “compel Israel to stop its flagrant violations of international law, respect the resolutions of international legitimacy and the historical rights of the Palestinian people, and to prevent these events from being used as a pretext to ignite a new asymmetric war against Palestinian civilians in Gaza.” =========================================== |

Member | Sun Oct 08 21:19:25 Cuckhat says "this thing never happened" and then gives a motive and disparaging remark for why a news source would make up "this thing that never happened". And then in the next sentence says "but if this thing happened we should go to the extremes in our reaction to it". |

Member | Sun Oct 08 21:21:49 Anyways, back to the real issue: the hostages. The Israeli population will want their friends and family back first and foremost. A prolonged war of occupation will not be popular. The IDF can smash any conventional force and win any conventional battle against its neighbors. Street-fighting and occupation negates its material advantage. Even if they are "winning", the collateral damage of killing women and children in the Gaza strip will not be something that Israelis will want to sustain. Right now, the far-right pieces of shit that Netanyahu sucked off in order to maintain power want him to go hardcore and refuse to release prisoners and go scorched earth on Gaza (very similar to the cukservatives on this board). The better plan is to surgically strike and wipe out as much of Hamas as you can (especially the leadership), have a show occupation of a few weeks and then save enough face that you negotiate and let Fatah take over governance of the Gaza strip with security assurances. Fatah has been much less bothersome to Israel than Hamas for decades now. Fatah will want, however, assurances that settlements will stop and Jerursalem be split as was originally agreed upon. This will piss off royally the far-right in Israel. At the end of the day, Netanyahu will do what the far-right wants most likely and there will be a ton of pointless bloodshed before he's forced to face reality and do some half-assed version of the better plan I described above. Toxic masculinity gonna toxic. |

Member | Sun Oct 08 21:26:00 I accidentally deleted out the part about the hostages. Israel will release most of the prisoners for all of the hostages when they can. It will be delayed and more people will die of Netanyahu kowtows to the far right. |

Member | Sun Oct 08 21:27:13 I wasn't aware only far right Israelis and cuckservatives wanted to go scorched earth on hamas and gaza. I guess asgard and the israeli parliament must all be far right. |

Member | Sun Oct 08 21:35:33 Gotta admit the cognitive dissonance displayed here by jergul and cuckhat in regards to the Israeli mindset is pretty God damn funny. Asgard gives us this verbal images of streets being empty, everyone glued to the television, fears of the UN abandoning their posts in Libya. We hear about safe rooms being located in houses, Israelis hiding in them as their house is set on fire, any Israeli caught fleeing is shot dead. Mother's shot dead and their babies kidnapped. Grandmothers to slow to flee taken away at gun point. Women raped next to the corpses of their friends and then executed. Jergul "boy, Israel must be embarrassed!" Cuckhat "only the far right Israeli politicians want to go to total war with hamas" |

Member | Sun Oct 08 22:28:06 WSJ is one of the best investigative sources out there. But Dukhat arbitrarily dismisses them and places more faith in hack organizations like MSNBC because their ownership better aligns with his political biases. This is a dead giveaway that we are dealing with an idiot here. |

Member | Sun Oct 08 22:35:22 I thought his strategy of "take out as much of hamas as you can, within reason" was inspired. It's important to set low goals when heading into a war with an enemy that seeks your utter destruction. |
