Ugh. I had no intention of caring about the Oscars at all, but because that Joel Haver anti-Oscars video had "Oscars" in the name, YouTube fed me a clip of Will Smith "hitting" Chris Rock after Rock joked about Jada's lack of hair (due to her Alopecia). The uncensored version is available here (until the Oscars removes it for copyright, anyways):
http://twitter.com/moreoffilms/status/1508277114398978048
It looks staged. Chris Rock adjusts his right foot beforehand (like he's trying to get the correct positioning), he seems to be intentionally making his jaw more accessible, and Will Smith strikes with a weird knife-hand/slap motion like a wrestler pulling a punch. This might be how the Oscars covers up that they're just an irrelevant propaganda apparatus.

apparently i've reached the age where the music young people listen to is crap

all of the Grammys 'song of the year' nominees sounded like dental office music (or maybe the brief sound bites didn't do justice)

music peaked in the 1980's & 90's

"100 CGI scenes on same theme"

Very cool. That'll be my new screensaver while I listen to audio ;)

..
"apparently i've reached the age where the music young people listen to is crap"

It's probably not that so much as the Grammys always having been a shit-show attempting to control the Zeitgeist by showing the corporate-approved list of licensed music for further propagation and payment evaluation in movies and commercial enterprises (i.e., "[Hey, fellow corporations. Our art evaluators have appraised this work at this value. Pay us accordingly.]") ;D
And it's a circular award, since the same machine that promotes and distributes the music is congratulating itself on that music. It's incredibly rare that anyone decent gets through.. like.. Meshuggah managed a nomination for "Best Metal Performance" for Clockworks in 2018. Halsey's win this year was even on the backs of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who loaned their good music to her shitty clone-vocals. ;p

"the Grammys always having been a shit-show"

could be, just browsed winners in 80's & 90's and not that impressive a list either :p

although i guess 'song of the year' maybe is about the writing so you get more womanly crap nominees :p

Okay, who would win: meerkats or prairie dogs?
The rules: 1,000 meerkats released into a prairie dog area. No other rules.

That makes sense. Plus, meerkats seem to have more dexterity, so they might be able to fashion weapons. Prairie dogs have had it too good for too long. A reckoning is coming.

A man died Monday after he was run over by a car he was trying to steal a catalytic converter from in Sacramento, California, authorities said.

...

Investigators said they believe the suspect was tampering with the vehicle to steal its catalytic converter before the collision.

Catalytic converters are part of a vehicle’s exhaust system and control emissions. It contains valuable metals that criminals can cut out in seconds and sell to scrapyards for profit. Replacing a stolen catalytic converter could cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.

Catalytic converter thefts have risen in cities across the country this year.

Police in Minneapolis have reported a nearly 38% jump in catalytic converter theft compared to this time last year. Dallas has seen a 20% increase, and Philadelphia police have seen a 172% increase. According to Las Vegas Police Department data, officers have seen a roughly 87% hike.

Lulz, yeah. I was hearing about those thefts starting maybe 6 months or more ago due to the pandemic shortages. I'm hoping that thieves will stick to dealerships and large targets, but these stories of random people being hit don't help my perceptions. Dealers have apparently been trying to get manufacturers to start putting VIN numbers on the converters, but I don't think that would help for people who intend to sell the converter for the metal itself. This is too much like Tarkov logic... people stealing expensive materials due to massive economic collapse. D:

"Report: Social Media Platforms To Allow Questioning Election Integrity After Republicans Win Everything In November"
[Babylon Bee; April 22nd, 2022]
http://bab...ans-win-everything-in-november
""It is a grave, grave sin to question or challenge the integrity of our sacred elections, and we must ban anyone who does so. We cannot allow people to erode trust in our holy democracy," said YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki. "That is, unless, Republicans win. Then we'll know the elections were totally rigged and democracy is under attack."
"Platforms like Twitter and Facebook plan to reverse their policies against questioning election integrity sometime around November 8, 2022, after the Republican party wins almost every local, state, and federal election as they are projected to do. "

remember when Trump declared he won the popular vote if you deduct the 3-5 million fraud votes (of which he provided 0.0 evidence, & he coincidentally lost by 2.9 million...)

or his multiple declarations of victory after 2020... including states it wasn't close in... again with no evidence he had won -any- of them (none... not even your PA lawsuit, which he didn't even mention)

his 2016 behavior kinda suggesting he wasn't just after legitimate integrity concerns... plus the hundreds of baseless lies about the election kinda works against integrity...

and he wasn't doing satire, he was sitting 'president' & his cult believed it

just for the record for any confused person who wanders into thread, it's spillover from UP arguments

CC has the incomprehensible belief that Trump was a good faith actor merely battling for election integrity & did nothing improper, and that neither he nor any of those attacking the Capitol on Jan 6th were trying to change the outcome of the election... & CC thinks if you don't share that insane belief, it's because the DNC has brainwashed you (which also applies to much of the Republican party somehow)

(...and CC now getting personal insult-y about it after thinking i started the insults & deciding i'm lying when i deny that was my intention w/ a clearly understandable explanation)

ok, now done :p

[Trump Derangement Syndrome Bot]: "[I'm going to misrepresent CC's position by saying things such as, 'did nothing improper,' because I have a mental health emergency that is not being addressed in my real life. By immersing myself in Twitter echo chambers, my ability to discern fact from fiction has been eroded. I deny basic facts, such as CRT in school (I deny that reality even after easy links being posted to actual curriculum and after CC gave a long write-up explaining the history of Critical Theory — something that CC has studied since 2012), Hunter Biden's laptop (I refuse to simply Google, "Hunter Biden nude"), and words that actual people have said (e.g., "peacefully and patriotically"); and I instead prefer to insinuate the motivations of public figures based on my belief system.
"[And that is what my TDS has resulted in: a belief system. I worship at the Church of Trump, like the Two Minutes Hate proles worship at the alter of Emmanuel Goldstein. I have a series of threads in UP spanning four years to present day dedicated to this obsession, and it has caused me to spiral into a delusional sphere where my fiction cannot be challenged and I will always deny facts and revert to my fiction after a bout of cognitive dissonance causes me to become irrational and unhinged. My friends are worried about me. They thought that the 2020 election would cause me to rise from the spell, but I have only gotten worse. I always want to talk about Trump, and I insist on bringing his name into any conversation even peripherally related to him. Soon, I will have nothing left but the impulse, as all of my neurons have converged into a singular purpose focused on a singular name: Trump. Trump, Trump, Trump.]"

Yeah, I understand that. We'll miss you :'(
